After working for more than 10 years in some of the finest bars and restaurants in the St. Louis area, Derek Gamlin set out to create a more unique drinking establishment. Derek took the idea to his brother Lucas who had been working in Portland, Oregon, also in the bar industry. With Derek’s unique idea and Lucas’s west coast influence, the Gamlin brothers opened Sub Zero Vodka Bar in the Central West End in 2004.The Gamlin’s needed a chef who could take their idea of a vodka haven and translate it into the food. With more than 15 years experience at the Ritz Carlton, sushi chef Vu Hoang was a natural fit for the drinking oasis. Using fresh fish that's delivered daily, patrons can enjoy the atmosphere and fresh sushi until last call, seven days a week.
