Chef Alex Capasso has heightened his career over the last three years here in South Jersey with the success of his first solo restaurant endeavor, Blackbird Dining Establishment. Chef Capasso and Blackbird have received multiple honors including the prestigious invitation to cook at the James Beard House in 2008 and earning "Top 25 Restaurants in New Jersey" for 3 consecutive years. Blackbird also received a Three Bell Review from Philadelphia Inquirer's Craig Laban shortly after opening in 2007. It is with the success of Blackbird that Chef Capasso has been able to continue his love of food and restaurants right in his hometown of Collingswood, NJ.Collingswood has seen tremendous growth over many years and has become a destination for diners seeking fresh and beautifully prepared meals. Chef Capasso is thrilled to introduce West Side Gravy right in the heart of Collingswood in the old Woolworth Store on Haddon Ave. The original tin ceilings and store front windows still remind us of simpler times in days past. West Side Gravy is a place where dishes are reminiscent of these times and all the comforts of home, while giving Chef Capasso the opportunity to continue to showcase his culinary art.
