The Washington Township Municipal Utilities Authority was created in 1972 thanks to an adopted state ordinance. The authority services the majority of the township, save for portions of the northwestern section that are serviced by the Hackettstown MUA. In 1976, the MUA absorbed two privately held water companies that previously serviced the area. The building is centrally located on East Mill Road and accepts payments in person, by mail or through the website.
