Cafe Capriccio was established in 1982 by Jim Rua in an historic brownstone on Grand Street, the center of Albany’s once-thriving Italian neighborhood. Soon after its debut, Vinod Chhabra, food critic for the Albany Times Union, rated Cafe Capriccio top on the list of the best restaurants saying "this cozy little basement operation...is probably the most interesting restaurant in Albany today."
