Polytex Environmental Inks was established in 1943 to manufacture and supply industrial coatings. Second-generation family members manage the company. With the worldwide adoption of tougher environmental standards, Polytex Environmental Inks committed its technical resources to developing replacement inks and coatings for printing and conversion processes. The company initially focused its efforts on providing new technologies and replacement products for the wall coverings industry. To effectively support the industry, Polytex built an 80,000-square-foot plant in 1986 in the Bronx, N.Y., which included research, development and manufacturing. It established a research, development and manufacturing site in the Netherlands in 1993 and a marketing program in the Far East in 1994.
