When owner Ron Trucchio first tasted Rita's Italian ice and frozen custard while on vacation, he and his family fell in love with the product. "As a resident in this a family-friendly environment, I thought it would be a great idea to expose this community to a very high-quality, great-tasting product," he said. "The ices are made fresh daily on the premises. And the frozen custard, which we have to make using strict guidelines of a certain percentage of buttermilk and egg yolks, creates a creamy, dense ice cream product that you really can't find anywhere else in the community."

Rita's offers a minimum of eight flavors of Italian ices with as many as 15 flavors in the height of the summer season. It also has three to four flavors of frozen custard daily. Toppings and mix-ins include hot fudge, caramel, sprinkles, Oreos, Nilla Wafers and M & M's. Next year, the shop will be adding Heath Bar, Reese's Pieces and Reese's Peanut Butter Cups toppings as well as a coffee ice to make frozen coffee drinks.
