Before that it was a popular road house from the early twentieth century, it was Barney Burnett's residence. Barney was certainly a "larger" than life character - a very rotund fireman who weighed in somewhere between 600 800 pounds (depending on who is telling the story). The spot has always been known as "Barney's Corner" and has long been a landmark for travelers.
