West Hills County Park is a part of the Suffolk County Parks system. It offers hiking trails, picnic areas, bridle paths, a dog run, a playground, youth group camping and a horseback riding facility. It features the historic Walt Whitman trail to Jayne's Hill which is the highest peak on Long Island. Visitors may come across Mocassin Flower, Mountain Laurels and ferns, along with chipmunks, salamanders, turtles, squirrels and the red fox. Campsites and shelters are available to rent year-round. The park also features Sweet Hollow Hall which is a handicapped accessible public facility that's available to organizations and clubs for meetings and events.
