On january 1, 1892, a young Irish Girl made immigration history.Just 15 years old, Anne Moore sailed from Cobh harbour in Country Cork, Ireland to America aboard the S.S. Nevada.As a ship docked and the gangplank lowered, Annie Moore stepped ashore to a cheering crowd.She was handed a $10 gold piece and became the 1st imiggrant to be processed through the newly opened Ejlis Island immigration center.
