Founded in 1973, Lambda Legal is one of the oldest national organizations that works towards the achievement of full recognition of the civil rights and equality of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those infected by HIV. It undertakes litigation, public education, advocacy and public policy work. It advocates the cases for equality in state and federal courts, the Supreme Court and in the court of public opinion. It represents clients in cases that involve immigration, military services, the rights of students in schools, the rights of youth for job equality, protection for their parenting and relationship rights, equal access to health care services and protection against discrimination. The organization maintains a national network of volunteer cooperating attorneys and employs more than 80 people nationwide. Headquartered in New York City, it has four offices in Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles.
