Notorious as a great date spot, Xai Xai captivates and charms in true african style. A blend of rural and urban vibes mix with primal rythmns to create enchanted experiences all over a glass of wine. inside Xai Xai, high ceilings are streaked with wooden beams, supported by massive ancient cypress logs, rising from warm slate flooring. Textured plaster gives way to bone white driftwood and earthy face brick walls enhanced by recessed lighting an candle light. With a 1000sqft area allowing for a maximum of 50 seated patrons (12 seats at the bar) and 75 standing. Summer sidewalk seating is scheduled. Within the space, we looked to created a sense tranquility through texture and soft lighting, incorporating natural color tones and earthy elements that give homage to the raw 'bush-veld'. Glass, iron and earth were used to mirror the materials prevalent in african design and access a sense of sophistication in the space that allowed the wine to express itself against a background that represented the uniqueness of the wine's origin without competing for attention.
