Sanctuary fits perfectly into Nyack's downtown scene, selling furniture, accessories, artwork and more.

Owner Laura Gould—a Rockland native who relocated the store to Nyack in 2009 after six years of business in Beacon, NY—makes most of Sanctuary's jewelry herself.

Other items in the store, like clothes, are fair trade or handmade by local artisans. Some pieces are collected from around the world, like Tibetan statues.

Gould describes her theme as "sophisticated Bohemian," and worked as an interior designer prior to helming Sanctuary.
