Founded by Bob Palmer in 1983, Palmer Vineyards in Riverhead is one of the oldest vineyards on the North Fork and continues to make quality wines with merlot, chardonnay, pinot blanc, cabernet franc, cabernet sauvignon, sauvignon blanc, gewurztraminer, and riesling grapes from 48 acres of vines. The production facility includes a cozy tasting room, an outdoor patio and informational signs about the wine making process for self-guided tours. During harvest season about 400 to 700 people a day visit Palmer. The vineyard also hosts many weddings and special events and has live music and art shows to entertain guests from July through October.
