A native Grecian had a dream of bringing the Gyro to Cincinnati. Bill Sakkas believed that the Gyro would become the next Hot-Dog. Opening in July 15, 1981 Bill would make weekly trips to Chicago to pick up Gyro cone and pita bread as they were not available in Cincinnati. Thus Chicago Gyros was born with the attributes of family, hard work, and good eats. As Chicago Gyros established itself as the place for gyros many others opened Gyro restaurants in the area but none to the success and taste that is Chicago Gyros. After many hard fought years in the Gyro business Bill decided to retire to his native Greece.In 2004 a young restaurateur, Travis Brinkman with the help of his family, purchased Chicago Gyros and its secrets, including its famous sauce recipe from Bill
