Just a few blocks from downtown Medford on a lovely, tree lined street, you'll find Cafe Dejeuner, where Chef/Owner Terry Swenson and his wife Louise have been serving lunch (since 1998), and dinner since 2004. Terry, who began his cooking career at age 17, brings thirteen years experience as chef at the Rogue Valley Country Club to Cafe Dejeuner. His skill is on display in delicious dishes such as the Filet Mignon with roasted garlic and shallot compound butter, and New Zealand rack of lamb with garlic rosemary rub and cilantro mint vinaigrette. The cafe boasts an impressive assortment of wines from around the world, including selections from local wineries such as Roxy Ann of Medford. And the desserts are true works of art, always made fresh from scratch. Located in a quaint, revamped building that was formerly a private residence, Cafe Dejeuner provides a quiet, intimate ambiance with its candlelit dining room; also patio dining is available about 6 months out of the year. The house is an appropriate setting for a true family business. Terry's daughter Kylie, a promising young artist, provided some of the art that adorns the dining room walls. Cafe Dejeuner is located at 1108 East Main Street in Medford, Oregon. For "dinner and a show," it's the perfect place to go before a Craterian performance, which is just down the street. The dining room has only 12 tables, so reservations are highly recommended.
