The Bucksville House Bed and Breakfast, a registered Bucks County historical landmark, provides the visitor not only with country charm but also with over 200 years of Pennsylvania history. Built in 1795, the Bucksville House Bed and Breakfast has had several lifetimes and expansions as a hotel 1830, a tavern, speakeasy during the prohibition period and as private residences. Innkeepers Barbara and Joe Szollosi purchased the Bucksville House Bed and Breakfast as an Ultimate Handyman's Special in 1984 and began welcoming guests a year later. The Bed and Breakfast's decor reflects its 1790's to 1840's origin ; with a goal to replace the period-style reproduction furniture with authentic 1830-1840 pieces. Period style reproductions include four-poster beds, country kitchen table and cabinet, desk, bureau and backgammon set. Restored 19th century pieces, antique collectibles, original art and as well as nearly 100 quilts ( earliest homespun quilt circa the 1800s ) linger throughout the bed and breakfast. In addition to the all the attractions that make Bucks County so unique, visitors to the Bucksville House Bed & Breakfast come to relax and enjoy the on-site amenities and comforts. Guests may meander through the four acre site that includes brick and wooden patios, pathways, a screened gazebo and a stocked pond with walking bridge. Gardeners especially appreciate the water garden, perennial flower beds, grape arbor, vegetable plot and a herb garden patterned after one in Colonial Williamsburg. The Bucksville House Bed & Breakfast has been featured in these fine publications: Country living, August 1998 - Travel Holiday, March 2000 - Country Inns, April 1999 - Country Collectibles, fall 1995 - Bucks County Town & Country Living, Winter 1999- 2000 - New York Magazine, July 2000, Country Accents - Featured in the Winter issue of Country Sampler Magazine with an 8 page spread - October/November - voted inn with the best antiques by Arringtons Bed and Breakfast Journal 2004, - also being featured in a new video on sale called America's Most Haunted Inns put out by Luminence Films 2001. Bucksville House Receives National Recognition by being voted the B&B with the best antique furniture. Inn goers across the country cast their votes. The contest was sponsored by Arrington's Bed and Breakfast Journal a national trade publication for members of the B&B industry. The antiques, collectibles and nearly 100 quilts gathered and displayed by the owners are a visual treat to both the savant and the novice collector. Other appealing interests include the superb craftsmanship of Joe in the furniture reproductions, restorations and the building's additions. Paintings in the inn include Joe's work as well as some noble local artists.
