ABOUT DEBORAH WEINSTEIN Deborah Weinstein, Founder and President of The Weinstein Firm has been a respected litigator, counselor, and thought leader in the area of employment law for close to two decades. Over her career, she has developed a national reputation for her forceful courtroom presentations, her sound preventative advice on workforce issues to business, law and consulting firms and entrepreneurs, her ability to work with employers to prevent workplace disputes from escalating into litigation, thoughtful writing, and as being called upon to provide expert testimony on employment topics. For the past ten years, she has taught undergraduate courses as a lecturer in the Legal Studies and Business Ethics Department of the Wharton Business School of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. She has developed an innovative new employment law course, The Law at Work: Employment Law for Managers. Ms. Weinstein has presented numerous continuing legal education courses on employment law topics and courses on workforce management and strategies for increasing diversity especially designed for law firms and corporate legal departments. A master teacher and trainer, she has designed and presented anti-harassment programs and other training programs for professionals, managers and supervisors focusing on leadership, risk control, civility and a variety of workforce development issues. Her legal commentary is sought out by the New York Times, Washington Post, CBS Radio, the Financial Times, Bloomberg News, and Entrepreneur Magazine ; and, she writes a workplace column for The Philadelphia Lawyer Magazine. She is also a frequent contributor to the Philadelphia Business Journal. She also presents and participates in seminars and other educational programs and webinars, including ALI-ABA, PBI, American Law Journal, and the National Constitution Center. In 2007, The Conference Board published Ms. Weinstein's Putting Experience to Work: A Guide to Navigating Legal and Management Issues Relating to a Mature Workforce. She has extensive experience in advising organizations on how to effectively engage with their older workers in a legally compliant manner. Ms. Weinstein has represented businesses in state and federal courts and before administrative agencies such as the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission. She has provided expert witness reports in litigation in regard to employer practices including sexual harassment, workplace violence, and the Americans With Disabilities Act. Selected as one of Pennsylvania's Super Lawyers by her peers in 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, and 2009, Ms. Weinstein also earned the AV Preeminent 5.0 rating ( 5.0 out of 5.0 ) in the Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory. Ms. Weinstein presently serves as Editor in Chief of The Philadelphia Lawyer, the renowned quarterly publication of the Philadelphia Bar Association. She is the founder of the Human Resources Committee of the Business Law Section of the Bar Association has chaired the Association's Labor and Employment, Diversity, and Women in the Profession Committees. Weinstein received her law degree, magna cum laude, from the Temple University School of Law where she was Business Editor of The Temple Law Review. Ms. Weinstein recently taught the Professional Responsibility course at her alma mater. She also holds a Masters in Social Work from the University of South Carolina and is trained in human relations, group and organizational dynamics, change and team building. Prior to founding The Weinstein Firm, Ms. Weinstein was a Member of the Labor and Employment Law Department of the law firm Eckert Seamans Cherin and Mellott, LLC. She has two children and resides in Philadelphia with her husband, Dick Goldberg, Director of the Coming of Age initiative.
