Hog Island Steaks is far more than a typical sandwich shop thanks to its extensive menu, signature items and unique history. Its menu features salads, wings, cheesesteaks, burgers, signature "Hoggie" sandwiches, gourmet pizza, inside outs, stromboli, calzones, wraps and hot dogs. Every ingredient is customizable and can be substituted. The signature Hoggie sandwiches derive their name from Philadelphia's World War I era airport on Hog Island, whose 30,000-plus workers brought "hoggie" sandwiches that eventually came to be called "hoagies."
