Founded in 1955, West End Community Ambulance provides emergency and nonemergency ambulance services to the state of Pennsylvania. It merged with West End Advanced Life Support (WEALS) in 2008 to form a single Basic life support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) organization. The association provides coverage to all area hospitals, including the townships of Chestnuthill, Eldred, Hamilton, Polk, Ross as well as portions of Jackson and Tunkhannock. It offers emergency transport for any life threatening illness or emergency and nonemergency medical transport for hospital to hospital, home to hospital and hospital to home. West End Community Ambulance also provides standby service for local events, including school sports and the West End Fair and site ambulance coverage for special event. As an ambulett service provider, it is equipped with a wheel chair van capable of transporting wheelchair bound patients to and from hospitals.
