The Rhode Island Credit Union was founded in the fall of 1946 by a small group of state employees who decided to use their personal resources to help a fellow employee who needed money for his wife's hospital bills. A business that once operated out of a desk drawer in a small room in the Rhode Island State House is today a five branch credit union serving Providence, Cranston, Bristol, Pascoag and Kingston.
Rhode Island Credit Union is a community credit union, meaning membership is open to anyone who lives or works in Rhode Island. Rhode Island Credit Union has a wide range of money saving products and services such as savings and checking accounts, consumer loans, home equity and mortgages and more.
