Whether you need to drop off orphaned kittens, phone in a stray dog or want to adopt a new family pet, the Warren Animal Shelter is the place to go. The shelter can house up to sixteen cats and eleven dogs comfortably and can also take in other animals in need such as birds, ferrets, guinea pigs, rabbits and lizards.

If you are looking for a lost pet, check the shelter first. Animal Control Officer Heidi Garrity responds to calls for stray animals numerous times per day and according to Rhode Island laws, if a dog is not claimed within 5 days of being picked up, it becomes available for adoption.

For those looking to adopt a new pet, applications can be found on the website and the cost is $100. The cost of adoption includes rabies and distemper vaccines, leukemia or heart worm test, and to have the animal spayed or neutered. The shelter also works with two other rescue organizations from other parts of the country so if the breed you are looking for is not available in Warren, you may be able to find the perfect pet through the shelter's pet finder.

The shelter is located at the end of Wood Street in Warren and is open Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 2:30pm and on Saturday and Sunday from 8am to 2pm.
