Willie Pearson, a retired educator, is the owner of Bay Island Seafood. Pearson taught agriculture and was transportation supervisor for Darlington and Mayo High Schools for 36 years. Bay Island has been under his ownership for 15 years. In 2000, Pearson moved Bay Island Seafood from its previous location on D Avenue to the South Main Street Loaction.Pearson opened the doors of the new Bay Island Seafood in the spring of 2000. Before he created his first dish, he vowed to only use the finest ingredients, and prepare each dish with an infusion of passion and creativity. Critics have been raving ever since.
