Maurice bessinger, founder of piggies park inherited his gourmet blend BBQ sauce recipe and his restaurant expertise from his father, Joseph bessinger. Joseph began the small family barbeque business in 1939 in holly hill SC. Maurice's father was known a big Joe and Maurice and brothers were called little Joes. Joe passed away while maurice was still in high school and the young bessinger took over the family tradition after serving his country in the Korean war & extended training at fort Jackson
