During the midst of the Great Depression, 13 people called a meeting of concerned educational leaders to develop a new financial organization to serve educational employees and members of their families. With a pledge of $650 from each, the Denton County Teachers Federal Credit Union was chartered on August 1936. Since that time, our credit union has expanded its membership to serve the Denton, Texas, community and added new products and services while opening new branches. The credit union is a nonprofit cooperative financial institution, owned and controlled by the people who use its services. DATCU has seven locations in Texas.
