Laughlin Air Force Base manages the 47th Flying Training Wing, which is one of the premier pilot training wings in the world. The base provides silver wings to more than new military pilots annually. The wing conducts joint specialized undergraduate pilot training for the U.S. Air Force, Air Force Reserve and Air National Guard utilizing the T-37, T-38 and T-1A aircraft.
