Services Provided The Rescue Mission of Salt Lake provides these services for the addicted and homeless men we serve each day. Homeless men can attend two Bible studies daily at the Mission. The first is between 8 and 9 a.m. and the second, in the afternoon from 1-2 p.m. Anyone, male or female can attend our nightly 7:00 p.m. Chapel Service. You do not need to be staying at the Mission or even eating the dinner meal served afterward to share in this worship service, which is, of course, held in the Chapel. Walk-In Sit-Down Meals Breakfast is served Monday through Saturday beginning at 6:15 a.m. to approximately 6:45 a.m. Dinner is served every evening of the year immediately following our 7:00 p.m. Chapel Service. Both of these meals are open to anyone, male or female, without regard to race or religion. Brown Bag Lunches We will provide a brown bag lunch to the homeless who are in need of food during the day. During bad weather or times of freezing temperatures we open up our day room so the homeless can take shelter. We have a Baggage Room just off our Contact Office, where homeless men and women may check in their gear for 7 days . We also allow homeless men and women to use the Mission as their home base. They can get mail at the Mission and receive telephone messages. This service allows our homeless clients an address and telephone number to use when applying for jobs, bank accounts and other necessities of modern society. We open our Dorm facility every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. for men age 18 and older to shave, shower, brush their teeth, etc. Our Clothes Pantry is also open during these times, where men may obtain (as we have them to give) dress shirts and t-shirts, dress pants and jeans, shoes, and personal hygiene items such as toothbrushes and combs. We have 50 beds in our Dorm available for men to sleep in. Eligible men may receive a bed for 7 days every 30 days, as available. Homeless men and women must have a valid TB test card and a valid photo ID in order to get a bed in the Dorm (or spot on the Overflow when it's open). Addiction Recovery: First and foremost, we seek to assist as many men as possible who seek us out to establish and/or strengthen their personal relationship with God. The New Life Program is perhaps the most intense way we do that. We share the message of Jesus Christ, and encourage all men everywhere to take the free gift of salvation extended to all by the Lord Jesus. As a gospel-based ministry to the homeless, helpless, and downtrodden, we do what the Lord enables us to do through the generous contributions and donations of our friends and partners, to provide food, clothing, shelter and addiction recovery. Daily study of God's Holy Word is an essential component of everyday life for every "enrollee." Each enrollee is required to attend two Bible Studies every weekday one in the morning and one in the afternoon. We are currently using the new Bible-based Genesis Relapse Prevention model of recovery. This recovery program has gained national recognition for its ability to help even the most hardened addict stay sober. These services are free to any individual that meets federal poverty guidelines. After six month on our New Life Program, participants move to Phase II. Here Mission staffers help them find a good job, pay off any outstanding bills or fines and eventually find housing outside of the Mission.
