ean Francois was born in Beaugency, France in the Loire Valley. He came to the United States in 1976 and started working as a restaurant waiter. In September of 1983, he and his wife Francoise opened Le Refuge in Old Town Alexandria, across the street from Christ Church. As of September 2004 Le Refuge has been in business for over 28 years! Their goal has always been to create a relaxing atmosphere, without waiting between courses. Casual attire is welcome; street parking is available.
