The American Association of University Women's Fairfax branch raises money to promote education for women through fundraising events. An annual fall book and author luncheon and math/science/tech career day for middle school girls help fund the group's donations to the national AAUW fund as well as a scholarship fund for a woman attending George Mason University.

Members hail from Fairfax City and the surrounding towns, including Burke, Annandale, Oakton, Fairfax Station, Springfield, Clifton and Centreville.
