Other Details:
Mrs Hardesty’s Tea Room is located in the historic Hardesty-Higgins House in Harrisonburg, VA. This colonial revival building, the second oldest still standing in downtown Harrisonburg, was home to our first Mayor, Isaac Hardesty, and his family in the 1850’s. During the War Between the States, Isaac Hardesty entertained Union General Banks in this house as much of the surrounding Shenandoah Valley was being burned by his forces. Soon after that the Hardesty family moved North. Then, the building began a series of new roles, including serving as an inn and a fine furniture showroom. In the Summer of 2005, it began it’s newest life. It is now the home of Harrisonburg Regional Tourism, Valley Turnpike Museum, Rocktown Gift Shoppe, Harrisonburg Downtown Renaissance and Mrs Hardesty’s Tea Room. The Hardesty-Higgins House is where "history meets hospitality."
