Family Mediation of Greater Washington was opened in 2001 by Attorney Lawrence D. Gaughan as a "state of the art" mediation center where couples going through a separation or divorce can go to reach solutions outside of the courtroom.

Gaughan graduated from law school at the University of Montana in 1957, and has always specialized in practicing family law. However, Mr. Gaughan's practice is now solely a mediation practice; he works outside of the courtroom to assist couples in reaching fair agreements as smoothly as possible.
