Barcode first opened in November, 2001, under its original owner, Marcus Miller. The corporation under which Barcode operates was named Matther Enterprises in remembrance of Matthew Shepard, the Wyoming gay man murdered in 1998.Due to Mr. Miller's vision, business savvy, and ability to hire loyal staff, Barcode maintains it's success as it celebrates it's tenth anniversary. Now operating under new management personally chosen by Mr. Miller, the bar and restaurant continue to provide and promote a comfortable, friendly atmosphere for Richmond's gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender / transexual community.
