Our Mission: "To Welcome guest to our comfortable home for consistently good food at reasonable prices" -E. Crafton WarrenThe Roanoker Restaurant owes its existence to three young partners who decided to open a lunch counter in Roanoke, VA on July 1, 2014. One of these men was E. Crafton Warren. The first location of the restaurant had a staff of ten and could only seat 50. When World War II broke out six months after the Roanoker opened, Crafton's two partners were called to duty, leaving him to operate the Restaurant and serve as a civilian neighborhood volunteer. After the war, his partners sold their shares to Crafton and the Ronaoker continued to served Good Food at Good Prices to the Roanoke Valley. Soon the Restaurant moved to Salem Ave due to downtown renovations. It was around this time Crafton's son, E.C. started helping his father at the young age of eight. E.C. would go on to own and operate the Restaurant with his father, working there virtually every day after school and throughout his adult life.In the early 1960's the Restaurant expanded its operations and moved yet again to the newly constructed Towers Mall. It was during this time Crafton hired Renee "Butch" Craft as a secretary. Butch would eventually come to own the Restaurant when E.C. retired and still operates it to this day. The Restaurant made one final move to its current location in 1981, setting itself up as a stand-alone restaurant and no longer a lunch counter or cafeteria. The Roanoker now has over seventy employees and seats 300 in a comfortable building. People meet here to conduct business, discuss family, propose marriage, celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, graduations, and retirements. We host Civic and Church groups, Business Meetings, family reunions and all our other Guests. Our Guests and our Staff make the History, our Restaurant provides their needs, and we want you to feel good when you leave. Come join our family, enjoy some great food and make a little history while you're here.
