Cascade Bagel & Deli makes over 20 kinds of bagels fresh daily, in authentic New York style. "True bagels are boiled, not steamed," says co-owner Betty Murrie. Many of the deli's regulars are displaced East Coasters delighted to find a real New York bagel close to home. Located in Lakewood's Colonial Center, the deli has a cozy, hometown feel, with the morning regulars playing cards and drinking coffee at the pinewood tables. Besides bagels, Murrie and her business partner Bob Bringer make gourmet sandwiches and salads for the lunch crowd, and they mix their own cream cheese daily.  Their best seller? Still the plain water bagel, but the pizza bagel, covered in melted cheese and spices, is popular with kids who stop in after school. The deli makes deliveries to its wholesale clients, which include schools and businesses, will cater small parties, and makes up party platters to go.
