The American Legion, founded in 1919, is one of the largest nonprofit community service organizations in the world. It has more than 3 million members and provides support services to military personnel, veterans and their families. The organization s member benefits and services include career assistance, financial guidance, travel discounts and medical aid. The American Legion sponsors American Legion Baseball, Junior Shooting Sports, the National Oratorical Contest and scouting programs.
