A Hudson institution, Dibbo's was founded in 1956 by Vic and Bertha Fenner. For years, guests were greeted at the nightclub door by fixture Vic, who died in 2002. Those who came of legal drinking age in the 1970s still recall the legendary "Banana Night," during which a banana -- which ended up in the cafe's famous pie the next day -- served as an admission fee. Bertha retired in 2009, and her family and long-time employees run the establishment today. The cafe closed in 2011, however.
The music club features local, regional and national rock acts -- over the years, everyone from Foghat to the Smithereens to Tommy Tutone have played here. The Dibbo Hotel is a residential-type hotel with rooms and small apartments.
