We are a small but responsive law firm, specializing in family law ( divorce, separation, child custody and support ), wills and estate planning, and residential real estate. We also offer criminal and traffic representation, assistance with problems with state and local governments, and appellate representation. Michael Briggs has been an attorney since 1975. Before law school he was an academic librarian. He served for 18 years as an administrative law judge, and was a Madison city alderman for three terms and a member of various city boards and committees, including the plan commission. Norma Briggs has been an attorney since 1984. Before law school, she worked as a social worker, as executive secretary of the Wisconsin Governor's Commission on the Status of Women, and as a manager in the state Equal Rights Division.. Before opening her own law practice she was a clerk in the Wisconsin Court of Appeals. Now retired from the active practice of law, she continues to advise the firm. We have lived in Dane County since 1966. We are familiar with the court systems of Dane County and surrounding counties, and with the Wisconsin Court of Appeals and Supreme Court. We are licensed only in Wisconsin and cannot offer advice about cases involving the law of other states.
