Branford's Ashley's Ice Cream is one of five in the state. Ashley's, named after a famous Frisbee-catching dog, Ashley Whippet, has been awarded Best Ice Cream by the New Haven Advocate's Best of New Haven Readers' Poll more than a dozen times since 1990.
Ashley's walls are colored with Frisbees, in honor of their namesake, and customers' drawings or scribbles. During the summer the ice cream shop is open until 11 every night.
