Owners Nuccia and Andrea Mazzonetto opened Gelatissimo Artisan Gelato in 2004. The couple, who came to the US from Italy in 1986, makes their gelato fresh daily with real fruit, no preservatives and no food coloring. Andrea Mazzonetto described their frozen treat, "It's like silk on your tongue."

The shop offers a large selection of flavors, often rotating with the season. Pumpkin, for example, is served in the fall and peppermint candy and hazelnut flavors are dished out in the winter. Specialty coffee and hot chocolate are also served.

Mazzonetto loves serving his gelato in New Canaan because as he put, "New Canaan's personality is unique and distinguished, just like our gelato!"
