The Water Street Bakery and General Store is the large, red brick Black Dog building one usually sees right away as they walk or drive off the year-round ferry in Vineyard Haven. It's a popular stop for your morning coffee, freshly baked doughnuts, muffins, pies and pastries, yogurts, sandwiches (made to order or premade to-go) and their always popular "chowda."

It has bar-stool type seating lining the windows if you'd like to stop and read the local newspapers while eating, and a few outdoor benches usually filled during nice weather. One can also select from a large assortment of Black Dog clothing, hats, baby/toddler items, bags, wooden signs, flip-flops, dog leashes and many prepackaged food items such as granola or coffee, and of course, dog biscuits. A great place to stop before catching the ferry... to-go food for you, and a gift for a loved one off-island.
