In 1868, a group of Quaker farmers created The Savings Institution of Sandy Springs. In 1879, they gave their first mortgage loan in the amount of $1,050. By 1900, the bank received its new charter and became The First National Bank of Sandy Springs. 1956 saw the opening of the bank's first branch in Olney, MD and later, in 1986, the new headquarters was built there as well.  The move into to Annapolis area came in 1996, and by 2007, what once began as a small savings institution for home loans, topped $3 billion dollars in assets. With such a wide variety of services, it's no wonder this bank is thriving.
