Island Coney was newly-constructed in 2006 by owner Valerie Gergely when she decided that Grosse Ile residents neeeded an inexpensive and informal place to meet with friends and enjoy a light meal. The simple design of the restaurant blends with the eclectic blend of other buildings on the street, and welcomes residents, who come to enjoy the homemade soups, salads and, of course, Detroit-style Coney Island hot dogs.
