More than 200 families come together at the Jewish Community Center of West Hempstead to pray and participate in the wide range of activities available to its members. Founded in 1951, by a group of veterans and their families who had settled in the area after World War II, the center houses a beautiful synagogue designed by famous architect Percival Goodman, which is accented with breathtaking French-style stained glass windows.

The center's adult education program offers full-length classes and mini-courses in Jewish history, literature and religious texts. Through the Toby & Frank Wexler Fund for Furtherance of Jewish Education, which was established in 1998, the center attracts renowned scholars to the community to give lectures. The center has a men's club and a sisterhood and also brings the community together for many social events at the banquet hall.
