Founded in 1986, Five Guys Burgers & Fries now has more than 725 locations. The restaurant settled into Kent in 2009 and has enjoyed a brisk business ever since.  Located just across SR 59 from the 'front campus' hill, Kent's Five Guys serves up the limited menu that has been one of the main ingredients in its successful formula: namely, burgers and fries. (No surprise.)

Its burgers are big and fresh, as are the fries. The 'vegetarian burger' isn't actually a burger, but the standard bun-and-all-the-extras sans the burger patty. Kosher-style hot dogs are also featured on the menu, along with a grilled cheese sandwich, and Coca-Cola beverage products. The chain doesn't even offer coffee. But in Kent - as in most college towns, which Five Guys franchises favor - there's usually a Starbucks (or other coffee stop) nearby.
